Kai
Vainiomäki (b. 1979) had a lifetime dream of creating duck comics.
Eager reader of Aku Ankka tried many other occupations, after he
finally decided to try out with comics. He sent his sample Duck comic
to Danish Egmont Comics Creation in 2002. He had both written and drawn
it, and comics editor Byron Erickson liked the story - but not his art.
Kai got many valuable pointers on doing comics and soon he was writing
his first official script. That sample work has also made it's way in
to production, drawn by Euclides Miyuara.
First
published story was Telly Trouble (Finnish title: Ei perheen
pienimmille) in 2005 (D D 2004-003) drawn by Arild Midthun. Double
D-code is for "trainee". After completing four scripts, Kai became
"official" scriptwriter in Egmont with "one D". Kai has done more than
12 stories so far. So we will soon have more published stories by Kai
Vainiomäki.
